The Support Link Program is designed to provide lifeskills to youth who are preparing for independent living. Support Link program offers basement suites to youth that are 15 - 18 years of age who are presently in the care of the Ministry for Child and Family Development, and who are preparing to make the transition to independent living.

 

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE PROGRAM:

  • In the care of the Ministry for Child & Family Development
  • Able to live unsupervised
  • Attending or willing to attend a day program 12-20 hours per week
  • No current criminal involvement
  • No chronic drug or alcohol problems

SUPPORT LINK REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attendance in day program (may be available through Aunt Leah's)
  • No guests in suite between 11:00 pm-11:00 am
  • No drugs or alcohol in suite
  • Meet twice a week with a support worker as directed
  • Attendance at Lifeskills Workshops (ILFFY)

  • Phone with toll restrictor
  • Basic cablevision
  • Monthly bus pass
  • Monthly clothing allowance
  • Monthly food allowance
  • One-to-one support worker
  • On-site landlord liaison
  • Lifeskills workshops
  • Recreation
  • Opportunities for creative expression

  • Time management
  • Budgeting skills
  • Landlord/tenant relations and tenancy rights
  • Nutrition and food management
  • Personal health & well-being
  • Housing information & referrals
  • Obtaining I.D.
  • Information on Community Resources
  • Recreation/Leisure Management
  • Support for appointments/meeting
  • Employment readiness
  • Home & personal safety

The core funding for this program is provided by the Ministry for Child and Family Development. A special thanks to our individual donors for their contributions which have allowed us to enhance this program in areas where funding is not provided by the ministry, including Christmas and Birthday celebrations, and recreation outings, just to name a few.
