Aunt Leah's Summer Golf Classic 2007

Our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at the Country Meadows Golf Course in Richmond BC, was a wonderful day, and we would like to thank all of our golfers, sponsors and volunteers for making it a smashing success. The golf tournament falls at a time of year where an extra influx of money is very important to Aunt Leah’s and we want to grow this event into something that really makes a big impact into our daily operations. Thanks to your efforts this years event raised nearly $18,000 profit - almost double compared to our first year.

This year we added clowns and musicians to the entertainment, and despite the golf course putting us an hour behind schedule, the sun shone and we all had fun (a couple free rounds of strawberry margaritas never hurt anyone). Three people came within inches of winning the $10,000 hole in one contest, and we had two teams tie by shooting a -10 for the day. There were about 70 golfers and an additional 30 people joined us for the dinner and silent auction. The evening featured Kevin Sylvester from CBC radio interviewing Gale Stewart, our Executive Director, numerous prizes and our silent auction raised about $3000.

We are tentatively aiming to have next years tournament on Friday, July 11. We will find more golfers and have a shotgun start, which will make things smoother for all! We are also aiming for more and better silent auction items and prizes. The aim is to grow the tournament a bit every year and make it into a premier event for Aunt Leah’s.
