Thank You!

…to everyone who gave their support to the 2011 Lonely Hearts Club Band event on February 19th.
We raised over $12,000.00

Group ensemble workshop of Obladi Oblada

PERFORMERS:
We enjoyed Beatles music all night long thanks to performances by:

Reid Jamieson
Sarah Wheeler
Jazzberry Ram
Charlie Kerr and
World Peace

And we especially enjoyed their group ensemble “workshop” of Obladi Oblada.

SPONSORS & DONORS:
We had a number of wonderful sponsors who helped ot offset expenses for this event:

Twisted Fork Bistro – If you were there, you know the food was wonderful. If you haven’t visited them yet, you absolutely have to!!! French comfort food with a twist – I recommend brunch, but get there early!!! twistedforkbistro.ca
Storm Brewing – A long time sponsor of the event, Storm provides several different kinds of beer and all proceeds from sales at the bar help moms in our Thresholds Program. stormbrewing.org
Shore 104.3 FM – Roots, Rhythm and Rock – set your dial to 104.3 FM from now on! Special thanks to Colleen Brow – our MC, to Billy Nardowski – coordinator of promotion efforts, and to Gord Rutherford for hosting Aunt Leah’s and Reid Jamieson live on-air to promote the event. shore104.com

In addition, we had an impressive list of local businesses, artists, crafts people and very generous individuals who provided the treasures for our auction tables.

COMMITTEE:
We had an amazing committee of volunteers who worked diligently in the months leading up to the event to carefully plan and make contacts to provide for all the elements of the event. Thank you to:

Stephen Stewart – Sound and Stage
Kristin Jamieson – Auction and Prizes
Bina Bawa – Auction and Prizes
Brooke Anthony – Auction and Prizes
Ryan Parfitt – Bar
Angela Tzanadamis – Catering and Prizes
Jan Lovick – Volunteer Coordinator

In addition, we an additional 30 volunteers who helped with set-up, clean-up, serving food, taking tickets at the door, helping with the auction, balloon and raffle sales. They not only did the work, but their spirit of generosity and kindness contributed to the overall wonderful feeling of the event.

OUR GUESTS:
And last but not least, thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and danced and sang along and bid on auction items and had fun while raising money for charity!

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
Funds raised from the Lonely Hearts Club Band event are used to help adult women in our Thresholds Residential Program, which provides housing and support for new mothers who are looking to build a new community and a new life for themselves while learning to care for their new baby. These women would often not be able to stay with their babies if it weren’t for a supportive housing program like Thresholds. Without housing and support, disadvantaged mothers will often have their babies apprehended shortly after birth, at the hospital, and taken into government foster care.

Lonely Hearts is all about having a great time, so we don’t dwell on why we’re all together in that room on that night, but helping those mothers is the reason why.

Thank you for finding a place in your heart for the moms and babies in Thresholds.

Sincerely,

Theresa Olson
Event Coordinator
