Jim McCullum – Chair
Jim McCullum and his wife, Anne, have been supporters of Aunt Leah’s for at least twenty years. More recently Jim became an office volunteer for Aunt Leah’s upon his retirement. He was a professor at Vancouver School of Theology and an Anglican priest. He has worked in Ontario, Yukon and B.C. They are proud grandparents and live on Main Street. How trendy can you get? He also works with a local support group for people with HIV AIDS in Soweto, South Africa.

Megan Halprin

Megan Halprin – Secretary
Megan has been a volunteer for over 40 years. She has sat on many different boards: community theatre, sports, social services, religious, service club. She was chairperson of the FCSS (Family and Community Support Services) board in Banff for 5 of the 6 years and was on the board and was appointed to the FSCC provincial task force (1990-1992). Megan has been active in Soroptimist – an international organization for women in business, management and the professions who make a difference for women and girls in local communities and throughout the world – for over 20 years. Other interests include: family, cooking, baking, travel, reading, crossword puzzles, sudoku and clowning. Megan brings a diverse skill set to the board.

Marty Frost – Treasurer
Marty has been a board member since November of 2005 but has worked with Aunt Leah’s many times over the years. Marty is self employed in the field of cooperative and non-profit development and training in a company called Human Ventures. Among the things he is most proud of is his role in the creation and success of a number of coop organizations, most notably the Canadian Worker Co-op Federation.

Molly Caron

Molly Caron
Molly is self employed as an actress with Vancouver Talent. She also has her own business called “Common Sense Consulting”. Molly does contract work in landscaping, renovation trades, and as a personal assistant. Molly is the volunteer host of a parenting show on Vancouver co-op radio called “It takes a village”… to raise a child – every Thursday from 4-5pm on 102.7 FM.

Tammy Munro
Tammy has been involved with Aunt Leah’s Society since 1993. She was a participant in the Support Link Program and has worked for Aunt Leah’s as a staff member and volunteer. Currently, Tammy is a student at the University of British Columbia and is working at the YWCA- Crabtree corner in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. She has been in the helping field since 1997, carrying a new mother caseload as an Aboriginal family support worker and switched to (ECD) early childhood development field in 2004. Tammy has participated in an array of committees and enjoys seeing the outcomes.

Bina Bawa

Bina Bawa
Bina is a previous member of Aunt Leah’s Board of Directors, joining the board after graduating from High School. Bina served for 6 years and has also volunteered at many of the Aunt Leah’s Fundraising events over the years. In her previous term as director she provided support as MC of our annual Golf Tournament and also supported our Lonely Hearts Club Benefit Concert. Bina is a graduate of SFU and currently works for HSBC. Bina lives in White Rock and her passions are traveling and language.

Sarah Getz

Sarah Getz
Sara was born and raised in Vancouver and is currently a fundraiser at St. George’s School. Sara graduated from BCIT twice: first with a certificate in Tourism Management in 1998 and then with a certificate in Fundraising Management in 2007. Sara is passionate about the arts and prior to working at Saints, most of her employment was in performing arts management, having worked at the Arts Club Theatre, The Vancouver Recital Society, Vancouver Opera, and the Vancouver East Cultural Centre. Sara is really excited to join the board of Aunt Leah’s and is looking forward to lending a hand in fundraising and getting to know this terrific organization better and serving it in any way she can.

Kristin Jamieson

Kristin Jamieson
Kristin is an Associate Partner with Compton Fundraising Consultants and has worked extensively with volunteers and donors on fundraising campaigns and feasibility studies. She has a variety of experience in the not-for-profit sector and has worked with notable organizations such as Vancouver Foundation, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival and the Vancouver Public Library. In addition to her past volunteer experience with the Vancouver Food Bank, eastside Culture Crawl and Vancouver International Film Festival, she and her partner, Brian, have also volunteered their time on the Aunt Leah’s Christmas Tree lot for the past few years and at the lonely Hearts Club Band concert since 2006, when they were both on the Organizing Committee.

to self-sufficiency"

Aunt Leah’s Society helps prevent children in foster care from becoming homeless, and mothers in need from losing custody of their children. To support them on their journey of self-sufficiency, we provide supported housing, job training and coaching on the essential skills.
