About Us

Who We Are
Aunt Leah's Place is a registered charity that has been helping kids in foster care and teen moms achieve a better future for over twenty years. We have seen how support at this critical time can help these young people realize their possibilities and potential and become resilient, independent adults.
Who Is Aunt Leah?
From a very early age I developed a keen sense of love, loyalty and passion for my Aunt Leah. In 1988, when we began discussing and writing the vision and mandate for our new organization, I came quickly to her name.
What We Do
We provide safe, secure housing and programs that give young people the practical skills they need to make a successful transition to adulthood and independence. In addition, we provide young moms with housing and support in learning how to care for themselves and their babies.

Who We Help
In BC, when a child in care turns 19, their government support is cut off and they are deemed ‘aged-out’ of the system. Today, almost half of these vulnerable teens end up homeless. Aunt Leah’s is there to help support these kids make a successful transition to independence and adulthood.
History of Aunt Leah's
Since its incorporation as a society in 1988, Aunt Leah’s has helped countless children and youth and teen moms lead healthy, safe, productive lives – kids who might have otherwise fallen through the cracks of the ‘system’ into homelessness, entered the criminal justice system or surrendered to suicide.
Mandate and Core Values
Aunt Leah’s Place helps prevent children in foster care from becoming homeless, and mothers in need from losing custody of their children. To support them on their journey to self-sufficiency, we provide supported housing, job training and coaching on essential life skills.
